In science today we learned about Charles Macintosh who invented the raincoat. We then tested different materials ourselves to see what we think would make a good raincoat.

We started our graphing unit today. The children had to take a cup of shape pieces and count them using tally marks. After they made a bar graph using the information from their tally marks.

Just a reminder that homework each week is the following:

- Practice math facts

-Study spelling words

-Read at least 5 out of the 7 nights and fill out books on reading log (for the month of March it is the Eagle reading minute sheet instead of the log)

-Go on Scootpad website and practice math and reading

Each Friday the children that do all of their homework get extra time on the ipads as well as show success in spelling, math and reading!!

Crazy Hat Day

Some reminders:

*We are finishing up our nonfiction unit.  After learning all the parts of nonfiction and how to write facts we learn in our own words, we are now becoming experts on 1 topic.  Today each of them choose a nonfiction book to read.  Tonight please ask them to share some of the neat facts they learned about their topic.

*Just a reminder to turn in their 100 items by Friday (if you need help with this please let me know)

*Please send in a box or bag to decorate as a mailbox for their Valentine Cards.

*Thank you for your continued support with practicing math facts.  Many of them have started to move up levels more quickly.  Half the class is already on their 4's or higher (remember by June we need them to be automatic through the 9's).

*Please make sure if your child's snack requires a fork or spoon to please send one in.  I had a small supply in the classroom, but am down to my last few.
